When I first encountered Cynoia, I wasn’t looking for a new role. I was brought on as a mentor to help guide the team and share my expertise in marketing and product development. But the more I got to know the product – and the people behind it – the more I realized this wasn’t just another platform. Cynoia was something special. By last September, I had joined Cynoia full-time as Chief Marketing & Sales Officer. Here’s what drew me in, why I believe so strongly in the product, and what I’ve learned from this transition.
My first impression of Cynoia
When I first started mentoring Cynoia, I was impressed by its simplicity and focus. Here was a tool that didn’t try to do everything – instead, it focused on doing the essentials really well.
A unified workspace: Replacing tools like Slack, Zoom, Monday, and Notion with one seamless platform.
Accessibility: A user-friendly design that made it easy for anyone to get started.
Impact: A product built “from Africa to Africa,” addressing the unique challenges faced by businesses in the region.
It was clear to me that Cynoia wasn’t just solving a problem – it was creating opportunities for teams to work smarter, not harder.
What made me say yes
Joining Cynoia as CMO wasn’t a decision I made lightly, but a few key factors solidified my choice:
1. Belief in the product
I saw firsthand how Cynoia simplified workflows and empowered teams. The idea of replacing multiple tools with one unified platform resonated deeply with me – especially as someone who’s experienced the chaos of juggling too many apps.
2. Alignment with my values
Cynoia’s commitment to accessibility, inclusivity, and supporting businesses in Africa aligned perfectly with my own values. I knew this was a company I could stand behind.
3. The team
The Cynoia team’s passion, creativity, and dedication were contagious. I wanted to be part of a group that was not only building a great product but also making a real impact.
Lessons from the transition
Moving from mentor to CMO has been an incredible journey, and I’ve learned a lot along the way. Here are some key takeaways:
1. Trust your instincts
When you find a product or team that inspires you, don’t ignore that feeling. Trusting my instincts is what led me to Cynoia, and it’s been one of the best decisions of my career.
2. Embrace change
Transitioning into a leadership role at a startup comes with challenges, but it’s also a chance to grow, learn, and make a meaningful impact.
3. Believe in the mission
Working at Cynoia isn’t just a job – it’s a passion. Believing in the product and its potential has made every challenge worth it.
Why Cynoia still inspires me
A year after I first encountered Cynoia, I’m more excited than ever about its potential. As CMO, I’ve seen how the platform helps teams work more efficiently, communicate better, and achieve their goals. Cynoia isn’t just a tool – it’s a solution that empowers businesses to thrive. And for me, being part of that journey is incredibly rewarding.
